Title: Bicentennial Celebration
Location: Mount Rest Cemetery, Bergen, NY 14416
Description: As the bicentennial of the Town of Bergen approaches, the 200th Anniversary Committee is putting the final touches on the plans for the celebration.
A ceremony will take place beginning at 1 p.m. April 13 at Mount Rest Cemetery commemorating the formation
of the town in 1813. The program will include the American Legion Color Guard, musical numbers by members
of the Byron-Bergen Band, solo by Sonia Catalino, other community groups, the dedication of a town tree and
time capsule, speakers, and tolling of church bells.
Special accommodations are being made for Bergen’s octogenarians to attend the celebration; call Fred Ely at
(585) 494-1574 to make arrangements for a ride to and from the event.
Commemorative T-shirts are on sale at the town and village offices during regular business hours for $10 & $12.
They are dark green with the Bergen Bicentennial logo in white.
Items are being collected at the Town Hall for the time
capsule. Check the item list on the village
(www.villageofbergen.com) and town (www.bergenny.org) websites for ideas.
